Located an hour's drive northeast of Toronto, Ontario in the beautiful Kawarthas lake region, the Greater Peterborough Area is comprised of the City of Peterborough and eight municipalities within the County of Peterborough. Peterborough is a safe, clean, waterfront community - close to the big city yet far enough away to enjoy a distinct character. Identified by a national outdoors magazine as one of the "Best Places to Live, Work and Play in Canada. Recreational opportunities abound: boating, swimming, fishing, golf, parks, zoos, camping, hiking, festivals, skiing, snowmobiling, theatre, cultural experiences, farmers markets to name a few. Peterborough is a diversified and active community with a population of approximately 70,000 people. The city is conveniently situated in what we believe is one of the loveliest lake areas in Canada, offering excellent opportunities for sports, tourism, and conferences and conventions. We are proud of our institutions of higher learning--Trent University and Sir Sandford Fleming College. We recently added to our excellent amenities a new twin-pad arena, the Evinrude Centre, which includes facilities for community functions, and the Showplace Peterborough performing arts theatre. They contribute so much to making our city an ideal place in which to live, work and play. Peterborough Ontario has great opportunities for sport tournaments of all kinds. Sport tourism is a part of Peterborough Ontario and it features a wide variety of sport tournament opportunities. |
